This has to be my second most favorite time of the year here in Central Texas, the Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes paint the highways like the palette of an artist. Normally I not fond of flowers but I must say these two are my absolute favorite. With that in mind, I wanted to give you some of the top places to enjoy them yourself especially since it's looking like an abundant season due to the weather.

#1) Williams Drive - Georgetown, TX - This stretch of road on the northwest side of Georgetown is a hidden gem in the Hill Country. Bluebonnets here bloom in extremely thick patches and there are always a handful of fields with horses among the flowers. Bring some apples or carrots and you can get them to come up to you for some close ups.

#2) Highway 79 from Round Rock, TX to Rockdale, TX - starting at the Dell Diamond (behind the Diamond) and heading East toward Rockdale, you are sure to find large patches of bluebonnets and they are very easy to access.

#3) Highway 29 from Georgetown to Llano - this is an awesome route for a Sunday drive and always produces some of the best bluebonnet patches year over year. Stop off in Llano for some good ol' Coopers BBQ to top the day off!

#4) Brenhem, TX - Located between Austin and Houston, this is a good bet if you can't make it out to the Texas Hill Country. There are often several high quality fields in this area and you can even take a tour of the Blue Bell Factory!

#5) Turkey Bend Recreational Area - Marble Falls, TX - Turkey Bend Recreation Area in Marble Falls is 400 acres of land on Lake Travis. It's not only great for fishing and camping but also has some terrific bluebonnet displays during Spring.
